Family Law
At Hammerle Finley, our lawyers know that representing husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers, and sometimes even children, is about practicing law for the benefit of the family.
It’s about doing an early intervention mediation instead of firing off a divorce pleading.
It’s about dividing property so everyone gets the benefit of a tax break, planning so the children can continue living in the same house or stay at the same school, and making a custody and visitation plan that everyone can understand and follow.
It’s about protecting our client’s rights, even if that means battling a bully or stopping an abusive situation.
Family law is about families.
For thirty years the attorneys at Hammerle Finley have helped hundreds of clients in Texas family law situations. We are very familiar with the family-law specialized courts in Fort Worth and Dallas, and the general jurisdiction courts in Denton and McKinney, and believe we can help you get a fair and just result. Our team of paralegals and attorneys work closely together to help our clients through all types of family law matters.

Meet our Team:
Craig Fowler was one of the first attorneys in Texas to obtain Board Certification in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Formerly Judge of the 255th District Court of Dallas County (a designated family law court), Craig has tried or adjudicated literally thousands of family law cases. Craig pioneered the use of mediation in the family courts. He has served as a trainer for the Attorney Mediators Institute and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and mediated over 400 civil and family law cases. Collaborative and early intervention mediation are additional cutting edge types of alternative dispute resolution in which Craig has been involved. He has been a frequent lecturer on family law and mediation to a variety of professional organizations.
Mark Scroggins is an experienced litigator and has a special expertise in e-discovery , which is invaluable in today’s computer-centered world. Many family law cases involve the production and analysis of multiple computer files, emails and texts. Mark is a noted author and lecturer on e-discovery, and brings that experience to bear in complex divorce and custody cases.
Sharon Forbes has a special expertise in CPS cases and child custody matters. She is often appointed by Judges to represent parents or children in CPS matters, and is widely regarded as an expert in the field.
John Fowler offers a combination of experience in business and family law matters, which is an invaluable trait in many divorces. He has an understanding of the difficult decisions that a spouse may face in valuation and division of assets and debts, and the ability to clearly present his client’s position to the court.
